The Boy Who Longs for a Badge

The white hair and red eyed boy stumbled forth in the snow, it was freezing. He was tired. He had a Joltik continuing to cling to his shoulder. Crystal the Lapras remained safe and cozey in her pokeball along with Joey the Rattata. He had named the Joltik Cymophane, Cymo for short, since the joltik was as yellow as the mineral.
Harv knew he couldn't keep moving much longer, he couldn't find any motels and it was in the middle of the night. He had wandered through route one to Redwood in search of Steeli city, his mind was too foggy to process that he would just have to look for the tall buildings again.
He trudged forward, approaching a small inn looking place with an unreadable sign, for his eyesight was a little bad and he was too far away to read the sign. He fell to the floor infront of it, causing Cymo to fall off of him. Cymo scuttled about a bit before going into his pocket and pressing the button of a pokeball, a Rattata appeared on the outside. When Joey, the rattata, noticed Harvey was on the floor, he darted up to the inn and began scratching at the door and yelling, "Rattata! Rattata!" Help! My Trainer!

The Door creaked open, and a paw womped out, slapping the Rattata inward, and then it darted back out womping the Joltik inside as well. Inside a large, even for one of its kind, a Arcanine grabbed Harvey in its mouth and dragged him in, sopping wet self and all. The Huge Pokemon growled to the Joltik and Rattata around his human mouthful, 'Arrcaa' Follow me. And he padded off to where a flickering light was coming from a doorway.

Joey screed as he was pawed inside, surprised by the sudden large paw. He shook himelf once he was inside and glared at the Arcanine, not liking being pawed around. Joey followed the arcanine anyways, sensing that it wanted to help, he just hoped the arcanine knew what it was doing and didn't hurt Harvey.
Cymo meanwhile was KO'd by the single paw strike...he was still just a baby. He woke up quickly and attatched himself to Harvey's leg as he was dragged past. He didn't want to leave the boy, that he assumed was his dad...Cymo's eyes watered as he hugged Harvey's leg.

The Arcanine plodded around the doorway to a huge common room where several fire types lounged. 'Arcaaaa!' "Found these strays out front." He Growled and rolled Harvey out of his mouth onto the floor near the fire. The Three other Pokemon just looked at them until one spoke up. It was a Vulpix that was curled up on a Chair. 'Vulllpix? Vul, Vullpix. Vulllpix, Vul, Vul.' "Arca, haven't you even asked them their names? I am Pyra. And the Brute is Arca. That is Lavat, and over there is Haggis" Her tone was soft and gentle, as she used her tail to point out the Arcanine, the Flareon which was snoozing in the fire, and then a Houndour which was scarfing down something in a bowl.

Joey stayed close to his passed out trainer, "Raa..." I'm Joey..."Rataa," and that's Cymo "Rattata Taaa Rattataaa" there's another but she's in her pokeball, best not to bother her though the rattata bowed his head, "Rattataa" Thank's for helping us... The rattata's tail moved as he toyed with the joltik, cheering it up a bit. Joey tilted his head, "Ratttata?" what is this place?
Cymo watched the large purple tail move in the air, it jumped up in attempt to grab it. It missed and fell on the floor on it's back. He flipped himself over and tried to grab the tail once more, failing again and again but determined to grab the tail.

Arca just grumbled something unintelligible and lay down next to the Flareon, closing his eyes in the process. Pyra just yawned, 'VullllPix, Vul, Vulpix, Vul.' "This is the Flaming Hoof Ranch, which is also the Redwood Gym." She closed her eyes, 'Vulllll.....' "If you want more ask him....." She flicked her tail at the Houndour who was still munching something down off a plate.

"U-Um...Do you know if Harvey will be okay?" Joey asked, unsure of what else to ask. These pokemon seemed friendly enough, and his trainer was still passed out. He didn't seem to be shivering anymore at least. Joey layed down next to his trainer, wrapping his tail around his body and Cymo was crawling over his body.

Arca sniffed the air and growled at the doorway, standing up as he did so. 'Arrccaa....' "We woke the Trainers...." He huffed, and went to lie back down, ignoring the others and closing his eyes, falling asleep as quickly as he had woken up. There were footsteps out in the hall and casually flicked her tail. A Girl, looking to be about 17 walked yawning, she was dressed Ponyta stylized PJs and held a little plushy Pawniard by its arm walked in. "Whats all the noise...?" She mumbled still half-asleep, not seeing Harvey on the floor.

Harvey groaned, waking up a bit. He realized he was warm, like in the old lady's house, only this place didn't smell badly. He couldn't find the strength to move yet or open his eyes, so he just listened. He felt something scuttling on his body and assumed that it was Cymo, he felt another source of warmth near his side, he guessed that it was Joey.
"Rattata??" WHo is she? Joey asked.
Cymo continued to crawl around happily, making a slight nest in Harvey's shirt.

Arca growled, almost absent mindedly, "Arrccaanniinnee....." 'Shes one of the Masters Trainees..' The girl looked about sleepily before yawning again, then she noticed Harvey's form on the floor. "......Oh...." She rushed over to him, and kneeling by his side, felt his chest, and feeling the heart beating sighed in relief. "Arca, did you bring him in?" She asked the Arcanine, and only hearing a faint huff and then snoring she took that as a assent. She nodded to herself as the Joltik nestled in the man's shirt, and laughing slightly she got into a more comfortable sitting position on the floor, welcoming Haggis as he walked over and nestled up close to her. She then poked the man, "Hey, are you awake? Your safe... For now at least..." At that she patted the Houndour's head, earning a happy growl from him.

Harvey finally opened one of his eyes to see a girl sitting over him. She poked him and asked him if he was awake. He managed to reply, "Well...I'm alive..." he forced himself up, the joltik cried in disappointment and clung onto Harvey's shirt as the cloth waved around as Harvey moved. "Where am I?" Harvey asked, a bit dazed still from the slumber.

The girl gave a gentle grin at him. "You are in the Blazing Ranch Bed & Breakfast, but other people call this the Redwood Gym, but we do both jobs here. Anyway, I'm Mia! One of the Trainees for the Gym, and Maid for the Bed & Breakfast!" She chirped, her voice and tone extremely happy. The Houndour gave Harvey a friendly snuffle before giving his face a happy lick. Even though it was very late, both seemed to be happy they had someone to talk to.

"A...gym?" he spoke. He had heard of gyms from lessons The Family had given The Son. Apparently they were a way to test strength of a trainer and their pokemon. He wondered if he could beat it with his team now. All he had right then was a rattata named Joey, a Joltik named Cymo, and his lapras which seemed to be shaking inside his pokeball as if wanting to come out. He guessed that she could hear everything and wanted to see if she could take these guys on herself.

"Do you think I could give this gym a try? I think Crystal is curious to see if she could beat it herself, since Cymo is too young and Joey doesn't like to fight...so I technically only have one pokemon." He spoke.

Mia let out a little laugh, and picked up Haggis, making sure the Houndour was no longer has hyper as he was. "Not right now silly! When the morning comes, and everyone is up sure, but right now, how about I lead you to a guest room, It'll be on the house, Breakfast is at 8'Sharp, so don't miss it! Now... Follow me to your room." Putting down the now snoozing Houndour, she walked to the doorway, and waited there for him.
