A Sleepy Winter Afternoon Empty A Sleepy Winter Afternoon

Post by Act-I Sat May 18, 2013 10:02 am

On this chilly winter afternoon the Hollophyll forest was quiet. The trees were partly bare and a light layer of sparkling white snow coated the ground and trees. The occasional Pokemon would be sightee, but other than that it was a sleepy day in the forest...

....Except for young Trainer Rin Murahashi.

Rin was your average teenage Pokemon Trainer. She was fairly new to training Pokemon, her only partner being her starter Pokemon Hino the Cyndaquil. Rin hoped to catch a new team member or two as the travelled through the forest, but to her dismay not many Pokemon seemed to be out and about today. The girl bundled up in a black jacket sighed deeply. It wasn't too bad if the forest was deserted of Pokemon, as that would mean an easier trip for Rin.

Rin strolled through the forest, remaining silent while taking in the view. Her hands were stuffed in her jacket pockets, and she constantly shifted her gaze about, taking in the peaceful view of Hollophyll Forest. Rin felt kind of lonely out here alone, so she took her only occupied Pokeball out of her bag. Rin tossed it to the ground, and in a flash of red light a tan and blue, mouse-like Pokemon appeared. This was Hino the Cyndaquil, and he seemed quite surprised to be sent out, as he was in a daydream prior to being sent out.

"Good afternoon Hino." Rin said, smiling at her partner. Hino squeaked and smiled back up at his trainer. Rin, a bit more satisfied she had someone traveling with her, continued on without another word, and the Fire Mouse Pokemon followed without complaint.

A Sleepy Winter Afternoon Empty Re: A Sleepy Winter Afternoon

After another few minutes of walking without finding anything, Hino got bored. He began to meander off and then hurry back to Rin when she was far away from him. Rin didn't seem to mind; she was bored, too.

It wasn't until about the sixth time that Hino wandered off that something was found. He ended up in a bush and came out, squeaking frantically. "Cyn, Cyn, Cyn Cyndaquiiiil!" Rin, Rin, I found something!"

Rin, even though she couldn't quite understand was her Cyndaquil was saying, got the gist of the message: Hino found something. The girl hurried over to where Hino was, and Hino pointed a small hand at a shrub. Rin parted the frosty bush with her hands and looked inside.

Hidden inside the bush was a small pink caterpillar-like Pokemon known as a Wurmple. It was breathing heavily, and seemed to be hurt badly. It had a few fresh cuts on it, and there were red scales surrounding it. Rin figured it had been attacked by something, but what? Rin didn't think any scaly Pokemon would be here, Rin couldn't figure out how it survived either, but it was alive, and that was what mattered.

Rin reached out and picked the Wurmple up, and it twitched in her hands. She didn't want it to die, and she vowed to do everything she could to keep it alive. First, she took out her sketchbook. Tearing out a blank page, she ripped smaller strips of that. Rin opened her pencil case and took out a roll of tape. Being extremely careful, she tapped the strips of paper to the Wurmple's cuts, making makeshift bandages until she could get it real help.

Satisfied with her work, Rin put her art supplies away and got up, the Wurmple held in her hands. Rin hoped it would be okay until she was able to help it. Rin and Hino continued on through the forest, though a little faster now that they had some precious cargo coming with them.

A Sleepy Winter Afternoon Empty Re: A Sleepy Winter Afternoon

Post by Act-I Fri May 24, 2013 4:54 pm

((Note: I originally spawned a Budew on the last roll, but I edited the post for a bit more of a plot. Sorry! =w=Wink)

Up ahead, a green Pokemon with a bud on its head waddled across the dirt road on its stubby yellow feet.. The Pokemon, known as a Budew, constantly looked back and forth, overly alert for some reason. It squeaked and jumped in surprise as it saw Rin's shadow, and it began to stumble backwards. It ended up on its back, unable to pick itself up.

Rin peered at the Budew, who seemed unusually scared. First, a hurt Wurmple and now a freaked out Budew. Something was up, the trainer could feel it. She looked down at the Budew and gave it her most comforting smile.

"Don't worry lil' guy! I'll help you, whats wrong?" she said coaxingly as she helped the grass Pokemon back to its feet. The Budew squeaked a bit, and Rin glanced at Hino. He squeaked back, and in seconds the Budew and Cyndaquil were deep in a conversation.

A few minutes passed, and the two Pokemon's cries died down. Hino pulled at the leg of his trainer's pants, and the Budew wandered up ahead. They wanted Rin to follow them. Rin nodded and followed them, still carrying the Wurmple.

The farther Rin, Hino, and the Budew traveled, the more footprints became prominent in the ground. They looked like they came from some kind of reptilian Pokemon, which could have possibly left the scales near the Wurmple. What was going on here?

The footprints turned off the path and into the forest. Rin and the small Pokemon came with, the Wurmple still unconscious and the Budew still paranoid.

Eventually the trail led the group to a clearing. There was a large nest made of random debris, like sticks and leaves, littered around the forest floor. It definitely wasn't made with the skill of a bird Pokemon, and it looked like what made it was large and clumsy. The same mysterious red scales dotted the clearing, meaning Rin was on the right track in finding out what was causing the commotion with the wind Pokemon.

Thump, thump, thump!

The Budew began shiver, rubbing up against Hino. The Cyndaquil put a tiny arm around the Bud Pokemon to help comfort her.

The thumps grew louder. The bushes parted, and a giant, lumbering lizard with red and blue scales. Its claws and fangs were coated red with blood; it had just come back from a hunt.

Rin quickly took her Ultragear out and pointed it at the Cave Pokemon. Its Pokedex app was pulled up automatically, and a holographic screen was projected from it. A 3D image of tye Pokemon was shown, along with some details about it.

Druddigon, the Cave Pokemon, the Ultragear buzzed. Rin blinked, and the Druddigon turned to face the sound. Rin fumbled with the device, trying frantically to turn it off.

Rin managed to turn the Pokedex off, but it was too late. The Druddigon was already upon her!

The Cave Pokemon growled angrily, staring Rin and the Pokemon with her. He snorted. There was the snack he gave up on (it just wasn't filling enough for him), along with another Pokemon who seemed to be scared to death. He bellowed angrily and swiped at Rin, the Druddigon's large bloodstained claws just missing the girl's face as she stepped back just in time. Rin's face lost the little color it had. She was attacked by a Pokemon who didn't even belong in the forest. What was wrong? Why was it here?

"I...I don't want to fight you," she said quietly, stepping back even further as the dragon prepared to Scratch again. "I want to help..."

The sun filtered through into the clearing, and something flashed, reflecting the sun. It caught Rin's eye, and in a split second before the Druddigon would attack again, the trainer dashed over and snatched whatever-it-was up. Her hands were full with the paper-patched Wurmple, but she managed to get the object in her sight with a little bit of trouble.

It was a collar of sorts. The band was ripped into two, which meant that it was probably on the Druddigon before, and that the dragon ended up ripping it off. There was something engraved on it, though it was slightly dirty, making it hard to read. Rin brushed off what she could, and read it.

This Pok.....on be....gs t.... Co..di...ato... Ja.....

This Pokemon seemed to be owned by someone before. It was then that it was clear what happened: the Pokemon was released by his trainer.

The Druddigon approached, still livid, but Rin understood its rage: it was abandoned in a strange place, an unnatural habitat. If she was him, she'd be angry, too.

The Druddigon was about to Scratch her again, when Rin balanced the Wurmple on one arm and put her free hand on his shoulder, the collar closed in her fist. Hino and the Budew gasped. They both thought the girl was crazy!

"Stop," she commanded, staring into the Druddigon's eyes. The Cave Pokemon began to growl angrily, and Rin began to stroke its shoulder. It let out a deep sigh, its breath tainted with the small of previous prey, though Rin ignored it. "You seemed to have been through a lot. I'm sorry for whatever happened to you, but I want to help." Rin opened her palm and showed the Druddigon its collar. At sight of the collar the dragon seemed to have a sort of flashback, reliving its days with its old trainer. "Come with me, please. I'll give you a new home."

The forest was silent, like it was when Rin started walking through it. Hino and the Budew held their breath, and the only sound audible in the clearing was the Druddigon's rasping breath. A few minutes passed, and finally the Druddigon was the first to move. A large clawed hand grasped Rin's small outstretched one. Rin smiled warmly at it. When the Druddigon let go, Rin took out a Pokeball and held it out in front of the dragon. It tapped the small button, and the ball opened. It sucked the dragon in, and it didn't even bother to shake. It clicked without hesitation, the Druddigon coming willingly.

Rin let the Druddigon out of the Pokeball. "Thank you," Rin said. The Druddigon held out his arms, wanting to carry the Wurmple. Rin placed the small Pokemon in its arms, and Hino ran ahead with him, giving a slight smile to the Budew before heading off with his trainer. And off the group went, out of the forest and into the next city....

When Rin and her Pokemon were a good bit ahead, the Budew shrieked as loud as it could. It wasn't in pain and not because the Pokemon was frightened. It was a signal that the Druddigon was gone and the smaller Pokemon were safe. And all through the forest, the native Pokemon began to buzz with life.

(( Notes: The Druddigon was force-spawned and captured as it was a raffle Pokemon Rin won <3. The Wurmple hasn't been captured, and will be released back into the wild in Rin's next Mono-Rp after it gets healed at a Pokemon center. ))
