Forefather Part One (Contains Blood)

Post by BlueKat12 on Sat Jun 01, 2013 8:10 am

[~Rave's turn for a Mono-RP~]
[This is a part One of an Character Arc that will focus on Rufflet and Rave]

The cafe wasn't bustling with customers this early in the morning, even though the sound of frying meat and assorted food buzzed in the air. The few customers that were there were still quiet for the morning had only just come and nocturnal pokemon were returning to their nests in exchange with the day pokemon. In entrance a stoic trainer pushed aside the vines that curtained the entrance and entered. On his should sat a rufflet that bit at his black hair a bit lovingly as the trainer took up a spot at two-seater table with nobody on the other side. He scratched the small hawk's chin as it hopped onto the table.

"C-can I take your order sir?" A waiter asked politely, he was a bit unnerved by the blank expression on the trainer's face. He didn't want to serve the boy, but he could use the cash.

"Just a glass of water please" The boy responded.

"Very well" The waited left, a bit annoyed since water was free in this establishment. If he was lucky the boy would leave a tip, but he should at least make sure. If he saved the boy, then the boy would SURELY give him a tip. So, he would go to the strongest looking trainer in the bar area and stir up some rumors.

The boy watched his rufflet peck curiously at salt packages as he waited for his water. He had wandered to this route then this cafe only moments ago and already he was bored. That's all he had been doing through out this region, either being dragged around unwillingly by some relentless mysterious force named BlueKat12 or wandering. He needed some kind of goal, "What do you think? Not like anybody would hire me or want me for anything..." he asked his rufflet.

His rufflet turned to him at the sound of his voice and gave a happy chirp to try and cheer him up, even though his voice was mono-tone the pokemon could tell his trainer was a bit depressed. The rufflet was startled by something slamming onto the table, he screeched and fled to Rave's shoulder. Rave looked to see that a big burly man had slammed his fist on the table, the man smirked and said, "So, you're talking crap about me eh Kid? How about we have a little fight to determine who really is the Stupid Slimeball?" the man shoved the Rave's shoulder to try and aggravate him. Rave simply stared at the table in attempt to ignore him. The man gave an annoyed huff, "What's the matter? Meowth got yer' tongue?" he gave him a harsher shove that nearly shoved him out of his chair. Rave finally looked at the man with a blank stare, making the man think of it as a sign of defiance by accident.

The man grabbed Rave by the shirt and dragged him into the large pathway-like branches of the tree. The few customers in the cafe pretended as if nothing had been happening and didn't help the young man as he was harshly dragged away. He avoided crying out and kept his mono-tone face as he was tossed into the tree's trunk. Rufflet screeched in fear for his trainer and tried to attack the human to defend his trainer, he was bat aside with the swing of an arm and sent spiraling over the edge of the branch.

Rave stood up, rage flashed in his eyes. He stood himself up and used the tree to push himself into the man, nailing him the gut with his elbow. He then brought his fist up to give the man a upper-cut punch, but was interrupted by the burly man's meaty hand grabbing his wrist and hoisting him into the air harshly.

The man looked at the boy's face, hoping to see anger or maybe tears of sadness as his pokemon was tossed out of the tree with who knows what bones could have been broken with the hit. He only witnessed the boy's stone face, and shoes. Wait...shoes? the man thought just before Rave had pulled himself up and kicked both of his legs at the man's face. The man released the boy with a cry of pain and was about to hurl another punch at him, but Rave had already fled back far enough to be well out of the man's reach.

Rave knew little about fighting, but at least the man he was fighting was stupid and fat. The man roared in rage like an animal, and charged towards the nimble boy like a fly to a bug zapper.

Rufflet screeched as he fell, he hit several branches on his way down. He was still stunned by the man's blow, and couldn't move. He had been diving head first straight towards a huge branch when he felt a pair of claws wrap around him carefully and his fall slowed into a light descent. When he and his savior landed, he was released from the grip. He turned to look at his savior to see a large mandibuzz looking down at him with a grin, "Had a fall now hadn't ya boy?" it spoke.

"W-Who are you? Thanks for saving me and all, but why did you do it?"Rufflet asked. He was a bit frightened by the bigger bird. He didn't know what type it was or where it came from, all he had to go with right then, was that the bird saved his life and that was about it.

The mandibuzz smiled, "I'm Buzzer. I'm a ranger's pokemon that was flying by that saw you fall." The mandibuzz looked closer at the small bird, as if inspecting him. "Your wing looks a bit busted, it would be best to climb back up instead of me carrying you or you flying. I'll escort you."

Rufflet had his doubts, but saw no harm. He had to get back up to Rave as soon as possible and help him as much as he could against the burly and dangerous man...then again...he couldn't do much against the man. He was weak...what could he do?

Buzzer noticed a distant and depressed look in the rufflet's eyes...but decided to ignore it for now, maybe it was just her seeing things.

The pain in Rufflet's wing didn't feel the pain until the adrenaline pumping through him had calmed down. It wasn't too bad, but it would keep him from flying for a bit. The mandibuzz had kept flying though, she would fly up a few branches and wait for him to hop his way up. It wasn't long before an pokemon decided they didn't like Rufflets jumping on their branches.

A meinfoo leaped out from a hole inside a branch as soon as Rufflet hopped up on it, it gave a screech as it used fake out, "MY BRANCH! MINE! MINE!". It looked like it was going to go for the rufflet's injured wing, so the Rufflet moved to try and avoid it but the Meinfoo faked into attacking the rufflet's onther side.

Rufflet gave a screech and looked around frantically, where was Buzzer? He avoided another attack from the Martial Arts pokemon with a leap back. It didn't seem this territorial pokemon was going to let him go without a scratch, so when the meinfoo grew near once more to try and use double slap, he lashed out with his good wing in a wing attack. The meinfoo gave rufflet a glare as the force sent it to the side of the rufflet. It watched as the rufflet scratched the bark below it with it's claws, using hone claws.

The Rufflet didn't wait, and darted forwards at the pokemon and combined a Fury Attack with A Peck attack, pecking at the fighting type pokemon several times before being kicked back with a pound attack. Rufflet knew he was at an advantage, Fighting Types never did go well against Flying Types, but am I really strong enough? he thought, faltering a bit in his brace against the Meinfoo's Swift attack.

Buzzer huffed, she was hidden away between branches and bushes of leaves, out of sight. What is wrong with this kid? He's getting beaten by a fighting type! Darren said that his pokemon HAD to be strong... She thought. She squinted at the rufflet as it exchanged blows with the Meinfoo, Ahhh...I get it I think...He couldn't help the other kid in that fight...Confidence issues eh? Only one way to solve this... she then called out loud, "What's the matter with ya' kid? I guess you really are a chicken after all!" she taunted the rufflet(not the move).

Rufflet heard these taunts from nowhere and looked around, confused. His moment of distraction earned him a few hits from a double slap. He began to grow a bit enraged at being called a chicken, and annoyed at the Meinfoo for randomly attacking him just for stepping onto his branch. He used another Wing Attack with his good wing, his wing slammed into the palm of the Meinfoo, a shock went up the rufflet's arm, paralyzing him. The rufflet fell to the ground, at the mercy of the Meinfoo who had used Force Palm, "MY BRANCH!!! the meinfoo called as it's fist glowed and it began to hammer its fist into the Rufflet's back harshly, using Drain Punch.

Oops...that thing out levels him. Time for me to jump in! Buzzer thought. She was a bit disappointed, she had wanted to see THAT boy's pokemon in action. She should have known that of course her trainer would exaggerate. She gave a caw and swooped in, using tail wind to speed herself up and air slash on the meinfoo. The meinfoo gave a screech in fear of the powerful pokemon's attack and fled from the battle as it's branch was cut in half from the attack.

"YOUR BRANCH! YOUR BRANCH!" It screeched as it fled.

"Whew annoying little thing 'aint he kid?" When there was no response she looked to the motionless rufflet, "Kid?" Still no reply, "Oh no... She made her way over to the Rufflet and looked at the rufflet's face. His eyes were closed but he was still breathing. Well at least he's not dead... she thought. She looked around the tree, in search of a berry or something that could help the rufflet. She instead spotted a green strange monkey with leaves decorating it's head like hair. It was happily munching on leaves not far off, oblivious to the commotion that had been happening earlier.

"Hey! You! Monkey! she called, getting the Pansage's attention. The pansage looked at her, and saw her friend on the floor.

"Need help?" it offered. It made it's way to them by swinging on the branches of the branches and landed near the rufflet with a bit of acrobatic tricks thrown into the jump.

"A hundred out of ten. Anyways, you're a pansage right? Could you spare a leaf to my friend here? A meinfoo beat him up."

The pansage nodded, it was glad to help an injured pokemon. It plucked a leaf from its crown and placed it in the bird's beak. It helped the bird to swallow the leaf, which had nearly instant effects. The rufflet groaned and woke. He heard the Mandibuzz thank someone and bid that someone farewell. He opened his eyes to see Buzzer standing over him, "Sorry I left ya' alone to face a strong pokemon like that... Buzzer got on idea at that moment to help the rufflet out, Buuut, as I thought you were able to handle it on your own.

"What? The rufflet asked. He remembered nothing of the incident, he didn't even remember blacking out. The drain punch the Meinfoo had used on him must have hit his head at some point and blanked out that bit of memory. He was a bit relieved though, he hadn't lost to a fighting type! He smiled a bit, maybe he wasn't so useless after all.

Ohh yes. You were all over that Meinfoo! Then some of it's friends came along and dumped a boulder on your back. You would've taken care of them just fine without me i'm sure. I just had to step in when they started pulling dirty tricks and chase them off though. Anyways, it seems like you wont be able to move for a while. If you can just put up with the pain I could fly you back up right now." Buzzer offered.

Rufflet thought for a bit, If I put up with it...i'll get to go back to Rave sooner...good reason enough for me he nodded. He braced himself as the claws of the mandibuzz wrapped around his small body once more, and lifted him into the skies.

Rave was furious, despite his face being still his punches packed his anger. The boy wasn't strong like the bigger man though. The man managed to slam his arm into Rave's head, stunning him as he fell to the ground, dazed. The man smirked and picked the boy up by the shirt and said, "You're not so tough!" before tossing him harshly into the tree's trunk. Rave held back a yelp of pain and gripped his arm, which was bleeding from when gravity dragged him down from the trunk back to the branch. Is he going to kill me? Rave wondered, still in a daze, as the man drew nearer.

The man gave a loud laugh that was changed to a startled cry as a black shape rammed into him. The man fell to the floor and looked around, confused. The shape had disappeared into the leaves of the tree and appeared again behind him and rammed into him once more. "Wh-What's going on?" the man asked.

Stay quiet...no emotion...no...emotion Rave thought even though his face was twitching slightly from the pain. It was quite a cut, opening a good part of his arm. The blood dripped on the trunk and stained it. He looked up at the scene before him as the man was battered by the strange black shape. He watched the man cry out in both fear and pain, then eventually flee in terror.

Once the man fled, the black shape revealed itself to be a mandibuzz. with a Rufflet in it's claws. Rave recognized the rufflet to be his own, he was both relieved and horrified to see his rufflet passed out with an agonized look on his face. Rave rushed himself over to his rufflet despite the pain in his arm and took the rufflet into his arms. They would have to get to a pokecenter, so he returned the rufflet into it's pokeball. He looked at the mandibuzz though, the mandibuzz stared at him for a bit and flapped her wings and took to the skies, except she had taken Rave by the arms along with her for the ride.

"What are you doing?" Rave demanded as the bird pokemon lifted him into the air. His arm was searing with pain which caused him to not say anything else as he too passed out like he did with Rufflet. The bird seemed to roll her eyes as if to say, "Deal with it" and carried Rave back to the cafe.

Rave woke to the sound of familiar sizzling, he was in what appeared to be a make-shift bed made out of crates and a blanket. He looked at his arm to see that it had been freshly bandaged. He looked at his surroundings to see he was in some sort of large storage closet. The door to the outside was half open and he had looked just in time to see a familiar rufflet run past as he chased a blue monkey pokemon past the crack.

The rufflet seemed to have noticed Rave, for it came running back in and leaped into the boy's arms. Rave couldn't resist hugging his now healthy again rufflet back. He stopped instantly when the door opened more to reveal a young lady that was older than Rave but younger than thirty. She spoke, "Ah so you're awake! Good!" The lady smiled and continued to speak, "A mandibuzz brought you in and showed up your rufflet. Lucky for you guys a doctor was in the cafe at the time. He's already left though and says you're good to go."

"Thanks..."Rave said with no expression once more. The blue monkey from earlier shyly made it's way in and hid behind the young lady. The woman murmured something to the panpour, which had begun to reach out to touch Rave's leg as it seemed a bit curious about him and prevented the panpour from touching him. Rave was confused about this gesture, but didn't show any interest in it.

This only seemed to annoy the lady, "Well fine! We save your life and you don't even say thank you without meaning it. You can just leave!" The lady stormed out, she pouted a bit as she did so. The boy had seemed a bit cute to her along with his rufflet, she had hoped he would be nice but she didn't want to even try to flirt with a guy like that. She had picked up her depressed panpour, who wanted to stay with the new boy and his rufflet, as she left.

"Okay..."Rave mumbled. He picked up Rufflet from the floor and placed the bird on his shoulders. He exited the closet to find that he had been in the cafe's storage closet, he earned a few stares from the customers whom he merely ignored as he left. It would be best to do as the lady said, after all she had saved him. He hoped that he would get out of this cafe soon as he made his way down the stairs that were nailed into the trunk and circled the trunk.

He was nearly half way down before a brown and red bird took a swoop at his head. He grunted in surprise and ducked, his Rufflet instantly taking action in chasing after the bird and preventing it from swooping at it's trainer once more. "Hone Claws, Scary Face, Wing Attack!" The rufflet clawed at the air, using hone claws, as it darted towards the Spearow that had dared attack his. He had a mean look on his face as he used scary face right before he smashed into the spearow with a wing attack.

The spearow cried out in pain and shook it's head as it flapped about furiously to keep itself in the air. It gave the rufflet a glare before flying around the spearow in circles, confusing the rufflet with sharp turns and unpredictable movements before slashing into the rufflet with an Aerial Ace. It caused the rufflet to become more enraged though with the pain.

Heh! You think you can beat me? Rufflet taunted. He was surprised by his own sudden new-found confidence. He was confident that he could beat this rufflet though, it's not like he was so weak that he would lose to a fighting type so why would he lose to this Spearow? He continued with an onslaught of hone claws and wing attacks, his wing feeling better than ever.

It wasn't long before the spearow cried, "STOP STOP THIS ISN'T WORTH IT!" and fled from the rufflet. Rufflet and Rave watched as the Spearow suddenly left.

There was the sound of flapping wings as a familiar shape showed itself from above in the treetop. Buzzer looked down at the duo from a branch, "Hello again Kid..." she spoke.

"Buzzer?" Rufflet asked.

"The mandibuzz?" Rave murmured.

"Sorry about sicking that Spearow on ya. I just wanted to see if you were really what my master said you and your trainer were" She didn't wait for a reply and continued, "You see, I haven't been entirely honest with you. I came searching for you two ever since I heard about what your trainer's insane mother did, because I need your help. My trainer, he's a ranger from the Unova region, he was sent here to see about a crazed Frosslass in route nine, but we kind of ran into trouble and he needs help. I need your assistance in helping to save my trainer. I won't bore you with details, but I'm begging you. Please help my partner!" Buzzer seemed to be on the verge of tears as she spoke.

Rave watched as the rufflet spoke to the mandibuzz, his rufflet turned to look at him with round eyes, as if begging something. Rave was slightly annoyed, since he couldn't resist saying no to the bird's round eyes. "What ever it is sure..." he said monotonically. He was startled as the Mandibuzz suddenly swooped over to Rave and grabbed him by the shoulders once more. Trusting a random pokemon to fly me someplace...this is certainly odd...well it's not like I have anything better to do. Might as well go with them. he thought as the vulture like pokemon lifted him into the air and began to fly him to who knows where. His wound still hurt, but it was bearable enough for him. He watched his pokemon fly beside him as he flew, wishing that he knew what these pokemon would say if they were to speak.

~Grading Time~

Length: Very good. Long, and balanced. Several grammatical and spelling errors, though. But good, as I can see you worked very hard on this.

Rewards: +2 Levels +1000

Descriptions: Lacking a bit, which caused some characters and actions to be bland and rushed, but it is straight to the point. I would've preferred it if there was a bit more detail in order to connect with the characters and the gravity of the situation more, but that's just preference.

Rewards: +2 Levels +600 Poke

Plot: Pretty good. I like seeing a good beatdown, especially on a bland protagonist. Characters weren't that interesting, 'cept maybe Rufflet in some parts since I do enjoy seeing him turn from unsure to confident while still being blissfully ignorant. Buzzer is amusing as well.

Rewards: +2 +500
_____________________

Total: 6 Levels to be distributed amongst your pokemon, preferably Rufflet since he battled the most. 2100 Poke should be added to your account, as well.
